ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). STORY:The portrait of Mother Teresa that will be displayed during her canonization ceremony in St. Peter's Square this weekend was unveiled by the artist in Washington on Thursday (September 1). Chas Fagan, an American artist who specializes in portrait and sculpture of American presidents and politicians, was commissioned to create the portrait by the Knights of Columbus organization, which was a long-standing patron of Mother Teresa's work in Kolkata, India. The portrait depicts Mother Teresa in a humble pose, wearing her familiar white and blue robe and clasping rosary beads. The artist said that he sought inspiration for the portrait and found it in a phrase from one of her writings: "joy is strength."
