ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). STORY: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday (September 19) blamed the poor screening given to prospective immigrants for last weekend's bombings in New York and New Jersey. The New York businessman told supporters in Florida that his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, will allow even more dangerous immigrants in if she's elected president in November. His comments come just hours after police in New Jersey arrested an American man born in Afghanistan on charges of setting off a bomb in New York's Chelsea section last Saturday that wounded at least 29 people. As many as six explosive devices were found in nearby Elizabeth, New Jersey, and a pipe bomb exploded near a New Jersey shore town further south, but officials said they don't yet know if the other explosions are linked. Nevertheless, Trump blamed the bombings on Islamic militants, along with a knife attack that wounded nine people. Trump, who has based much of his campaign message on arguing that the United States is no longer safe and that he alone can protect the nation, told Fox News on Monday morning that he expects more attacks because, in his words, "we've been weak. Our country's been weak." Trump has sought to tie Clinton to the decisions of the Obama administration, pointing to the four years she served as the Democratic president's secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.
