Weeks after Fidel Castro's death, Cuba's military marches on. With President Raul Castro looking on, the country paraded through Revolution Square... in an event that normally takes place in December once every five years. It was postponed after Fidel's death in late November... a loss that participants here say will be with them forever. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CUBAN STUDENT, MERCEDES MUNOZ, SAYING: "This is a way to show that he is still alive and that we are going to continue to defend the things that he and the entire centennial generation fought for." The country faces a tough political and economic year ahead. With President-elect Donald Trump threatening to pull the plug on warming U.S.-Cuba relations, Cubans are wary of what's to come. University student leader Jennifer Bello Martinez says the country will not sacrifice its ideals no matter what. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) THE HEAD OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FEDERATION, JENNIFER BELLO MARTINEZ, SAYING: "Cuba will not abandon a single one of its principles, nor make concessions inherent to its sovereignty and independence." It's a determination that many Cubans here are carrying with them in 2017.
