President Donald Trump signing executive orders to build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico and boost the number of agents policing illegal immigration. The new administration will also create more detention centers along U.S. borders, and end "catch and release" policy. Trump is also planing to cut federal funding to so called "sanctuary cities," where local authorities refuse to cooperate on actions against illegal immigrants. Economist Maria Fiorini Ramirez: (SOUNDBITE) MARIA FIORINI RAMIREZ, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF MARIA FIORINI RAMIREZ, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "Having a bit of a process in knowing who you're bringing in, and documenting it, it's not a bad thing. I think it's a good thing, and I think the world is going a little bit in that direction, also. But, I think, that impact on the economy from immigration, from immigrants, has been huge, and it's going to continue to be huge." In the coming days, President Trump is also expected to take steps to curb legal immigration, including restricting refugees, and blocking the issuing of visas to people from several Muslim countries, among them Syria.
