Rioters targeting police officers in a Paris suburb on Saturday night. Angry, for the alleged rape of a 22-year-old man while in police custody. Throwing objects at police officers, setting rubbish bins and vehicles on fire, looting shops in the suburb of Bobigny. A police officer is being investigated for suspected rape and three others for unnecessary violence to the detriment of the young man, identified only by his first name: Theo. Kahina, a Bobigny resident says the police response was not strong enough. "It's unacceptable that the police (inquiry) say it was an accident. It's just simply abnormal so I think these clashes are nothing compared to what people should do." The scenes of last night are a reminder of the chaos that shook this area of Paris in 2005. Then, two young men trying to escape arrest were accidentally electrocuted and killed. That triggered three weeks of protests in the heavily immigrant district of Bobigny and others nearby. Last night another remider of the contrast between the chic streets in the heart of Paris and the angry and deprived suburbs that surround it.
