Thousands of daffodils light up night by St Paul's Cathedral

A garden made up of 2,100 handmade daffodils has sprung up in the shadows of St Paul's Cathedral in London. Edward Baran reports.

Thousands of handmade daffodils have been placed in the shadow of London's St Paul's Cathedral - just in time for spring. The art installation marks the launch of a charity appeal for those living with terminal illness. Each flower is illuminated throughout the night. SOUNDBITE, DR JANE COLLINS, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF MARIE CURIE, SAYING (English): "Most of our nurses work at night, so they go into people's homes and provide care for the person who's dying and support for the family and they do that for the whole night." The installation features winding pathways which people can walk along while listening to recordings of voices reading real-life letters of thanks sent to Marie Curie nurses. It's open to the public for free until March 12th.
