It's the placards at this protest in Yemen's capital city that say the most. While one reads "Extreme Hoplessness," another says "Death to America and Israel." Such is the complexity of this conflict that while the US and Israel are condemned on the street, it is Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies that are bombing Yemen from the skies. Thousands of Yemenis joined this demonstration in Sanaa to protest against the Saudi-led coalition, and to show support for the Houthi rebels fighting them. It's been nearly two years since the bombing campaign started to try and restore the ousted government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Saudi Arabia is criticised for targeting Yemeni ports, which has led to the blockage of supply routes. Hashim Sharaf Aldin is a Houthi minister who says the siege has affected the import of medicines. UNICEF warns that the country could be losing a decade's worth of gains in public health as a result of the ongoing war and economic crisis. The conflict has left parts of the population on the edge of starvation. According to the UN, this includes half a million children under the age of 5. And after two years of bombings, no side has emerged as the dominant force in a war that has already displaced more than three million people.
