ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says there was nothing "improper" about his meeting with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 presidential campaign. Speaking to reporters in Richmond, Sessions said, "We didn't discuss politics or campaigns. He came in and we discussed issues like the Ukraine." Sessions recently came under fire for his denial of contacts with Russian officials during the presidential campaign when he was an adviser to Donald Trump. He made the assertion during his January confirmation hearing. But it was later revealed that Sessions spoke to Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July, and again at his Senate office in Washington in September.
