NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The "Star Wars" crew and hundreds of fans gathered in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday (April 13) for the launch of a four-day convention celebrating the franchise's 40th anniversary. The first "Star Wars" film, "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope", opened in U.S. cinemas in May 1977. It has spawned several sequels, spin-offs, animations and countless memorabilia. British actor, Warwick Davis, known for playing Wicket the Ewok, hosted a panel discussion on stage with "Star Wars" creator George Lucas and cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams and Peter Mayhew. Amid the jokes, reminiscing and thanks to fans, the team also paid warm tributes to the late Carrie Fisher, loved for her turn as Princess Leia, who died in December.
