SOT: "This is what democracy looks like." Rainbow flags in Washington, DC Sunday and words for the president... This is just one of many demonstrations across the U.S. aimed at highlighting discrimination... with protesters demanding President Donald Trump do more for LGBT rights. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NIGEL WILLIAMS, PROTESTER FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA, SAYING: "I think we have an administration that is pointedly and deliberately not recognizing gay people, gay rights, trans rights and we've made so much progress over the last eight years, I'm not prepared to let that go." Many here say they were outraged by Trump reversing landmark guidance to public schools letting transgender students use the bathrooms of their choice. Others said they just want to be recognized. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EMORY CONRAD, PROTESTER FROM JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA SAYING: "I would have loved for this administration to have even acknowledged the fact that this is Pride month, that we are here..." A so-called 'Resist March' through Hollywood taking the place of Los Angeles' annual pride parade. Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter and Nancy Pelosi all joining in. The LA event drawing criticism from some in the gay community who say the one day of the year set aside to celebrate their lives should not be given over to other political causes. Washington getting around that issue by holding back-to-back marches: It's official pride parade on Saturday, followed by its - more political - Equality March on Sunday. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW YORK RESIDENT, TYLER FIELDS, SAYING: "We are here, we're queer and you have to deal with us whether you like it or not."
