Residents brace for more flooding in Illinois

Days of torrential rains across the Midwest have caused rivers to crest in Illinois, putting residents on notice for more floods. Nathan Frandino reports.

One sandbag at a time... residents in Illinois, are in a race against time. (SOUNDBITE) (English) Kristen Hamilton, RESIDENT, SAYING: "We have a feeling we're going to be getting water from every angle at this point. We've done 3 sides of the house and we have one more side to go since it's coming from every angle." Days of rain in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois earlier this week caused major flooding throughout the region. Here in Fox Lake, officials fear it could be the worst flooding in the village's history. And with water flowing from Wisconsin into Illinois, the rivers are still rising. Resident Kristen Hamiltion says there's not much they can do. (SOUNDBITE) (English) Kristen Hamilton, RESIDENT, SAYING: "You can't stop it from flooding you can just do your best and divert as much as you can and take care of the rest and watch." Governor Bruce Rauner took his first tour of the damage in Lake County on Friday. His outlook was not optimistic. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ILLINOIS GOVERNOR BRUCE RAUNER, SAYING: "We're here to get the word out. We may have to do some significant evacuations down the road." The county is under a state of emergency, with residents hoping the rivers begin to recede before more damage is done.
