Brazil has 2-year window to show clear path to fiscal balance -treasury secretary

BRASILIA, June 18 (Reuters) - Brazil has a window of around two years to press ahead with market-friendly economic reforms and show it is on a firm path towards bringing the public finances back to health, Treasury Secretary Mansueto Almeida said on Thursday.

Speaking in an online debate hosted by media outlet Infomoney, Almeida said Brazil’s gross debt will rise this year to around 95% of gross domestic product as the government ramps up spending to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. (Reporting by Jamie McGeever and Gabriel Ponte Editing by Chris Reese)
