Rio de Janeiro governor faces impeachment proceedings over graft investigations

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 10 (Reuters) - A majority of the assembly members of the Rio de Janeiro state legislature voted on Wednesday to start impeachment proceedings against Governor Wilson Witzel for alleged graft.

Witzel faces 14 impeachment motions in the state assembly, the majority based on investigations of suspected overpricing on purchases of ventilators and other medical supplies to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
