Brazil lawmakers approve new sanitation bill

BRASILIA, June 25 (Reuters) - Brazilian lawmakers approved on Wednesday a new sanitation bill, in a move that is expected to prompt states and municipalities to privatize water and sewage companies and lure investors.

Nearly 45% of Brazilians do not have access to sewage services, according to the government.

The bill is still pending President Jair Bolsonaro’s approval. (Reporting by Maria Carolina Marcello, writing by Carolina Mandl; Editing by Toby Chopra)
