BRIEF-HSH Nordbank says non-performing ship loans in run-down unit could decrease to less than 5 bln eur

Aug 31 (Reuters) - HSH Nordbank says

* Is currently selling ship loans worth 1 billion euros in the market

* Would not be surprised if non-performing ship loans in run-down unit can be reduced to below 5 billion eur

* In H1 2017, HSH had 8.4 bln euros in NPL ship loans, thereof 7.7 bln in the run-down unit and 0.8 bln in the core bank

* Expects 2017 risk provisions to be twice the amount reached in H1

* CEO declines to comment on whether additional aid from state owners will be necessary
