British PM May says ECJ cannot be ultimate arbiter after Brexit

LONDON, March 2 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Theresa May said on Friday the European Court of Justice could not be the ultimate arbiter of any disputes that develop between Britain and the European Union after Brexit.

“The jurisdiction of the ECJ in the UK must end.... The ultimate arbiter of disputes about our future partnership cannot be the court of either party,” May said in a speech. (Reporting by Alastair Smout and Andrew MacAskill; writing by Kate Holton; editing by Stephen Addison)
