BUZZ-India's Vedanta falls to 11-month low; Tamil Nadu closes copper smelter after bloody protest

** Shares of Vedanta Ltd fall as much as 6.2 pct to 237.9 rupees, lowest since June 2017

** Southern state of Tamil Nadu on Monday ordered permanent closure of a copper smelter run by parent co Vedanta Resources

** 13 people protesting to demand its shutdown on environmental concerns were killed last week

** Demonstrations against the copper plant, one of India’s biggest, had been going on for more than three months, with protesters alleging that it was a major source of pollution and risk to fisheries

** Nearly 3.2 mln shares change hands in first 15 minutes of trade, compared with 30-day avg volume of 12.1 mln shares
