Aug 18 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index futures were lower on Friday ahead of inflation data, which is expected to have edged up to 1.2 percent in July on an annualized basis.
Economists will look for any sign of stabilization in the inflation data, due at 8:30 a.m. ET, to gauge how soon the central bank may raise interest rates again.
September futures on the S&P TSX index were down 0.14 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET.
Canada’s main stock index retreated on Thursday for a third straight day as U.S. political worries weighed on sentiment and a pullback in some base-metal prices drove down the materials group.
Dow Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures were down 0.08 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures were down 0.03 percent and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures were up 0.24 percent.
Swedish prosecutors said they would charge an employee of Canadian aircraft and train maker Bombardier on suspicion that he and several others at the company had bribed an Azerbaijani official to secure a contract worth around $340 million.
