CANADA STOCKS-TSX inches up at open as oil prices edge higher

April 16 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index edged higher at open on Tuesday after energy stocks got a lift from modestly higher oil prices and as global stocks rose towards new six-month highs.

* At 9:30 a.m. ET (1330 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 22.24 points, or 0.13 percent, at 16,537.7. (Reporting by Shreyashi Sanyal in Bengaluru; Editing by Maju Samuel)
