CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens lower as coronavirus cases rise

June 18 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index opened lower on Thursday, with fear over a rise in the number of coronavirus cases souring sentiment even as U.S. weekly jobless claims indicated signs of an economic recovery.

* At 9:31 a.m. ET (13:31 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was down 77.82 points, or 0.5%, at 15,350.87.
