Slower Chile growth, low CPI would have rate implications -cbank

SANTIAGO, May 30 (Reuters) - The potential consolidation of a scenario with low inflation and slowing economic activity has implications for Chile’s monetary policy, central bank president Rodrigo Vergara said in a presentation on Thursday.

A cooling of Chile’s red-hot economic growth has led some in the market to bet on a rate cut in the medium term. The key rate has been held at 5 percent since a surprise reduction in January 2012.
