China auto sales set to rise 0.9% in April - industry body

SHANGHAI, May 7 (Reuters) - China’s vehicle sales are set to rise 0.9% year-on-year to 2.0 million in April, the country’s top auto industry body said in a post on its official WeChat account on Thursday.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said that its forecast was based on sales data it had collected from key companies, without giving further details.

It added that it expects January to April auto sales in China, the world’s biggest auto market, to fall 32.1% year-on-year to 5.67 million. (Reporting by Yilei Sun and Brenda Goh; Editing by Muralikumar Anantharaman)
