Aug 24 (Reuters) - Dollar Tree Inc, the biggest U.S. dollar-store chain operator, reported a 37.4 percent jump in quarterly profit, helped by lower costs and discounts as well as a 1 percent rise in comparable sales at its Family Dollar business.

Net income rose to $233.8 million, or 98 cents per share, in the second quarter ended July 29, from $170.2 million, or 72 cents per share, a year earlier.
