Fall in wind generation lifts German day-ahead power price

PARIS, Aug 24 (Reuters) - German baseload spot power for day-ahead delivery rose in the European wholesale market on Thursday on the back of a forecast fall in electricity generation from its wind turbines.

The day-ahead baseload contract for Friday delivery was up 5.74 percent at 37.75 euros ($44.51) a megawatt hour (MWh).

German wind power generation is expected to fall by 3.7 gigawatts (GW) day-on-day Friday to 3.6 GW according to Thomson Reuters data. ($1 = 0.8482 euros) (Reporting by Bate Felix, Editing by dominique Vidalon)
