IG Metall demands 6 pct wage increase, right to cut hours

FRANKFURT, Oct 10 (Reuters) - German trade union IG Metall said on Tuesday it would seek a wage increase of 6 percent and a right to cut working hours for the 3.9 million workers in the metals and electrical sectors.

The demands, made by IG Metall’s board in the wake of a strong German economy, still need to be approved by the regional branches of Germany’s largest union on Oct. 24. (Reporting by Ilona Wissenbach; Writing by Christoph Steitz; Editing by Madeline Chambers)
