Nov 13 (Reuters) - A partial shutdown to slow the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Austria is having less impact on the economy than during the first wave in spring, the Austrian National Bank (ONB) said on Friday, with tourism and entertainment sectors hit the hardest.
Gross domestic product shrank by 7% last week when compared to the prior year’s period, the ONB added in a statement.
Earlier this month, Austria introduced a partial shutdown until the end of November. Restaurants, cafes and bars have closed to all but takeaway service while theatres and museums have shut. Infections still keep rising. (Reporting by Thomas Seythal in Berlin Editing by Riham Alkousaa)
