OTTAWA, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Canada said on Tuesday that it had signed a deal with Abbott Rapid Diagnostics to purchase up to 20.5 million Panbio COVID-19 Antigen rapid tests.
Health Canada has also authorized the test for use in the country, the government said in a statement.
“These antigens tests will have a role to play in avoiding large cluster outbreaks, when results are needed quickly to avoid further spread of the virus,” said Patty Hajdu, Canada’s Health Minister, in the statement. (Reporting by Julie Gordon in Ottawa Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
