EU to hold transport talks on Wednesday as coronavirus hits travel, airlines

BRUSSELS, March 17 (Reuters) - European Union transport ministers will meet over a videocall on Wednesday as coronavirus hits travel and airlines, an official with the bloc said on Tuesday.

Europe is eyeing shutting down external borders to curb the spread of the disease, a move that would put further pressure on airlines. Air carriers have already demanded swift government action to help them survive as they are running out of cash.
