March 16 (Reuters) - Johnson & Johnson said on Monday it had no evidence its HIV drug, Prezista, had any effect on patients suffering from the disease caused by coronavirus.
The company said it was aware that HIV treatments are being considered as options for coronavirus treatments, and that this use was based on unpublished clinical data in the treatment of patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome - a virus similar to the coronavirus. (bit.ly/2xIovfM)
There are no published studies that the drug, also known as darunavir, has been evaluated as a treatment for the coronavirus, J&J said.
