BENGALURU, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Indian banks’ loans rose 6.4% in the two weeks to Feb. 14 from a year earlier, while deposits increased 9.2%, the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) weekly statistical supplement showed on Friday.
Outstanding loans fell 634.91 billion Indian rupees ($8.83 billion) to 100.42 trillion rupees in the fortnight to Feb 14.
Non-food credit fell 579.16 billion rupees to 99.68 trillion rupees, while food credit fell 55.75 billion rupees to 733.24 billion rupees.
Bank deposits fell 884.64 billion rupees to 132.36 trillion rupees. ($1 = 71.8700 Indian rupees) (Reporting by Philip George; Editing by Anil D’Silva)
