India's Jan retail inflation rate drops to 2.05 pct y/y - govt

NEW DELHI, Feb 12 (Reuters) - India’s retail inflation rate dropped to 2.05 percent in January from a year earlier, lowest since June 2017, government data showed on Tuesday.

The decline was due to a fall in food prices and smaller increases in fuel costs.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast January’s annual increase in the consumer price index at 2.48 percent. (Reporting by Manoj Kumar; Editing by Sanjeev Miglani)
