TABLE-India's mobile subscriber base falls in November; Vodafone loses 36.4 mln

    Jan 16 (Reuters) - India's mobile phone customer base fell
by 28.8 million subscribers to 1.15 billion in November, data
released by the country's telecoms regulator showed on Thursday.
    The table below shows mobile phone subscriptions in India -
the world's second-biggest wireless market by number of users.

 NOTE:
    * Active mobile subscribers in November were 979.1 million.
    * Mobile connections per 100 people, or the tele-density of
wireless subscribers, were 87.29. Mobile tele-density in urban
India was 152.92, compared with 56.40 in rural regions.
    * As many as 4.9 million mobile subscribers opted to change
their service providers through mobile number portability. India
is divided into 22 telecommunications service zones.
    * Total broadband connections were 661.27 million as of
end-Nov. There were 642.1 million broadband users through mobile
phones and dongles, while 19.1 million were using broadband
through wirelines. Internet connections with a minimum download
speed of 512 Kbps are considered as broadband in India.
    * The number of fixed-phone line subscribers slipped to
about 21.3 million in November from about 21.5 million in
October.
    * Including fixed-phone lines, India had 1.18 billion phone
users as of Nov 30, or a total tele-density of 88.90%.
