Italy - Factors to watch on Aug. 23

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Wednesday.

Treasury announces sale of CTZ bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Aug. 28.

FIAT CHRYSLER

Selling Jeep would leave Sergio Marchionne nowhere to hide. The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief executive advocates using M&A to stop carmakers wasting precious capital. Offloading the company’s top brand to China’s Great Wall Motor, whose president has indicated interest, could raise billions. But it would leave an emaciated rump. (*) Jefferies raised its target price on the company’s Milan-listed shares to 16 euros from 13 euros and to $19 from $14 for its New York-listed stock. (*) Morgan Stanley raised its target price on the stock to 15 euros from 14 euros.

On Friday, a high court in Montenegro is expected to examine the utility’s appeal of a temporary seizure of the group’s stake in Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), Corriere della Sera said.

HSBC raised its target price on the stock to 5.4 euros from 5 euros.

The company has raised its outlook for the U.S. market, expecting to generate 2.2 billion euros in revenues there this year and 3 billion euros in 2019, Il Sole 24 Ore said.

After the Acam deal, M&A remains a priority for the group, either through acquisitions in cash or shares, CEO Massimiliano Bianco told Il Sole 24 Ore.
