ECONOMY

ISTAT releases May industrial output (0800 GMT).

DEBT

More than 80% of the demand for Italy’s 50-year debt issue on Tuesday came from foreign investors, with Germany in the forefront, the head of the Treasury’s debt management office told Reuters.

Treasury sells 6.5 billion euros new 12-month BOT bills. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

COMPANIES

ATLANTIA, ALITALIA (unlisted) (*) The Italian infrastructure group had no comment on a media report saying it might invest in troubled carrier Alitalia, a company’s spokesman said.

Atlantia is considering to buy a 35%-40% stake Alitalia for an investment of around 300 million euros, daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Wednesday, adding the company would discuss the issue at a board meeting scheduled on Thursday.

CARIGE (shares suspended from trading)

Fresh capitals needed to rescue the ailing bank could rise to up to 900 million euros, form 800 million euros currently estimated, Il Sole 24 Ore said, citing industry sources.

GENERALI

Italy’s top insurer has entered exclusive negotiations to buy Portuguese insurer Tranquilidade in a deal to boost its presence in Portugal, two sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

UBI BANCA

Patto dei Mille, a group of 94 investors in Italy’s fifth-largest bank, said on Tuesday it had raised its stake in UBI to 7.71% from 6.94% previously.

SALINI IMPREGILO, ASTALDI

State lender CDP is taking more time to give a final green light to the project aiming at creating a national construction champion involving Salini Impregilo and the troubled rival Astaldi, daily Il Messaggero said.

ITALIAONLINE

The Italian Internet company said on Tuesday it expected group revenue in 2022 to be broadly in line with 2018 under a new business plan, while the normalised EBITDA margin was expected to improve to 17%-20%.

ZUCCHI

The company said on Tuesday it will launch an offer for its outstanding saving shares at the price of 0,27 euros each share.
