POLITICS

Italy’s anti-establishment parties revived coalition plans on Thursday, ending three months of political turmoil by announcing a government that promises to increase spending, challenge European Union fiscal rules and crack down on immigration. (*) Italy’s Prime Minister-designate Giuseppe Conte on Thursday presented his cabinet list to President Sergio Mattarella, who will swear in the government on Friday at 4 p.m. in Rome (1400 GMT). (*) The leader of the far-right League, Matteo Salvini, is to be interior minister, while 5-Star head Luigi Di Maio will spearhead a new, beefed up ministry combining the industry and labour portfolios, Conte said. (*) France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Thursday that he hopes Italy will respect its commitments to the European Union.

ECONOMY (*) Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda on Thursday called for “rational” debate among G7 nations to prevent protectionist trade measures from disrupting the global economy.

Markit/ADACI releases May PMI manufacturing (0745 GMT).

ISTAT releases Q1 GDP data (0800 GMT).

Transport Ministry releases May car sales data (1600 GMT).

May state sector borrowing requirement data.

BANCO BPM

Italy’s third largest bank is looking to sell part of its debt servicing unit as it strives to meet its bad-loan reduction goals two years ahead of time, sources familiar with the matter said.

FIAT CHRYSLER

‘Capital Markets Day’, CEO Sergio Marchionne presents 2018-2022 strategic plan (0800 GMT); followed by news conference in Balocco. (*) Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne is expected to show on Friday how the carmaker plans to fix lagging margins in Europe, grow Jeep into a global giant and catch up in electric and self-driving cars - all without him in the driving seat.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will add up to 62,000 more cars to Alphabet Inc’s autonomous driving unit Waymo, the companies said on Thursday, as part of Waymo’s plan to roll out a robotaxi service in the U.S. later this year.

Shareholder Vivendi will not present its list of candidates for the renewal of the private broadcaster’s board to avoid new clashes with the communications authority AGCOM given the French group already sits on the board of Telecom Italia , Il Messaggero reported. Lists are due to be filed on June 2.

The publisher may sell its most famous publication, Panorama, Il Sole 24 Ore reported, adding that the group headed by the Angelucci family would be interested in buying it.

Unipol raised its stake in insurer UnipolSai to just under 77 percent on Thursday, an filing showed.

The group said on Thursday that the contents of the proposal by Bain Capital Credit (BCC) are under negotiation and that it is not possible to foresee, if the negotiation reaches a positive outcome, the terms of BCC’s intervention.

(*) MOLMED

The group and Dutch bio-pharmaceutical company Glycostem signed on Thursday an agreement for the development and manufacturing of new NK cells-based allogeneic CAR.

RBC on Friday raised to ‘sector perform’ from ‘underperform’.
