Japan Display eyes $470 mln fundraising including new share issue

TOKYO, March 30 (Reuters) - Embattled liquid crystal display (LCD) maker Japan Display Inc said its board will discuss on Friday a plan to raise 50 billion yen ($469.88 million), including more than 30 billion yen through a third-party allotment of new shares.

The fund-raising will also include the sale of assets, the company said in a statement after national broadcaster NHK carried a related report earlier.

Shares in Japan Display were down 2 percent in early trade, underperforming a 1 percent rise in the benchmark Nikkei average .
