Brazil cenbank to buy dollars in futures market

SAO PAULO, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Brazil’s central bank offered on Tuesday to buy $2.5 billion in the futures markets through derivatives called reverse swaps, in an effort to limit recent gains in the local currency, the real.

Brazil’s real weakened shortly after the announcement and was trading 0.21 percent weaker at 2.0196 reais per U.S. dollar.
