U.S. gasoline stockpiles highest in 20 years - EIA

NEW YORK, Feb 9 (Reuters) - U.S. gasoline inventories jumped almost 5 million barrels last week to the highest level in more than 20 years, weekly data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed on Wednesday.

For the week to Feb. 4, domestic gasoline stocks rose 4.66 million barrels to 240.89 million barrels, the highest inventory level since the week to March 16, 1990, when it hit 245.225 million barrels, EIA records show.

The increase was much more than the forecast for a build of 2.5 million barrels in a Reuters poll of analysts. (Reporting by Gene Ramos)
