MEDIA-Russian firm with ties to Rosneft becomes shareholder of Pharmacy Chain 36.6 - Vedomosti

MOSCOW, May 22 (Reuters) - Investment company GK Region, which is closely connected to Russia’s top oil firm Rosneft , has become a major shareholder in Pharmacy Chain 36.6 , according to Russia’s Vedomosti business daily:

* GK Region’s representative, Aleksey Abolyayev, has been nominated to Pharmacy Chain 36.6’s board, the newspaper said

* At the end of November, 36.6’s then biggest shareholder - Palesora - divested its stake, it said

* Since the end of December, Cyprus-based Paneario Holdings owns 28 percent of 36.6. U.S. firm Walgreens Boots Alliance owns 15 percent and 11.16 percent of the chain’s shares are in free float as of the end of March, it said

* It is not clear who owns the remaining 45.8 percent of the pharmacy chain

* Four people close to 36.6 said GK Region companies control the pharmacy chain, Vedomosti reported

* Small stakes in Russia’s second-biggest pharmacy chain are divided between several companies, Vedomosti cited a person close to the shareholders as saying

* “Aleksey Abolyayev will represent in Pharmacy Chain 36.6 board interests of GK Region, which has a sufficient shareholding to nominate candidates,” Vedomosti cites 36.6’s press service as saying

* GK Region manages Rosneft’s pension fund, the paper said
