NYSE holds nearly 9-minute silence in honor of George Floyd

NEW YORK, June 9 (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday observed an 8 minute and 46 second moment of silence in honor of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American who died on May 25 after a white police officer knelt on his neck for that length of time.

The moment of silence at the NYSE, which is owned by Intercontinental Exchange Inc, began at noon, to coincide with the beginning of Floyd’s funeral. (Reporting by John McCrank; Editing by Richard Chang)
