LONDON, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Nestle, the world’s largest packaged food company, has agreed to buy Sweet Earth, a U.S.-based maker of vegan and plant-based foods, as it looks to expand its portfolio of healthier products.
The Swiss company, Europe’s largest by market value, said on Thursday that the Sweet Earth brand would remain independent and continue to be led by its founders.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nestle, known for Nescafe coffee and KitKat bars, has said it wants to become focused on “nutrition, health and wellness”.
