Norway's seafood export value rose 7 pct y/y in August -council

OSLO, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Norway’s Seafood Council said on Wednesday:

** The value of Norwegian seafood exports rose by 7 pct in August vs August 2016, and volumes were up 2 pct

** The month’s overall exports of seafood valued at NOK 7.5 billion Norwegian crowns ($964.39 million), and total volume of 165,000 tonnes

** Jan-August export value rose by 8 pct to a total of NOK 60.6 billion, while volumes were up 6 pct

** Export value of salmon, the biggest category, rose 7 pct in August to NOK 5.5 billion while volumes were up 7 pct

** Says average salmon price in August was NOK 57.59 per kilo compared to NOK 58.12 per kilo in August of 2016

** Poland and Denmark were the biggest buyers of salmon in August ($1 = 7.7769 Norwegian crowns) (Reporting by Ole Petter Skonnord)
