Brazil's Oi schedules Oct 9 creditor assembly to vote reorganization plan

SAO PAULO, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Oi SA, the Brazilian telephone carrier operating under bankruptcy court protection for 14 months, said on Friday creditors will assemble on Oct. 9 to vote on the company’s plan of reorganization.

The Rio de Janeiro court supervising its bankruptcy proceedings confirmed the date in a ruling on Wednesday, according to a copy of the decision disclosed by the company in a securities filing. Oi is in talks with creditors to restructure about 65.4 billion reais ($20.85 billion) of debt. ($1 = 3.1365 reais) (Reporting by Ana Mano)
