Putin, oil firms hold talks before meeting of OPEC and allies - Kremlin

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin held talks with Russian oil companies on Sunday about proposals for additional or extended production cuts by OPEC and its allies, but no specific decision was taken, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“This meeting had no goal to take any specific decision,” he said, adding that all specific questions regarding any possible additional output cuts would be discussed by Energy Minister Alexander Novak this week during a meeting of oil producers.

Peskov said Putin did not have any immediate plans to speak to Saudi Arabia or OPEC members regarding the oil market situation.
