Poland c.bank head says likely to support stable rates until end-2018

WARSAW, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Poland’s central bank Governor Adam Glapinski said on Wednesday that he will support interest rates remaining stable until the end of 2018 if the economy develops in line with current central bank forecasts.

“I can say that if all upcoming data reflect the expectations of analysts (at the central bank), then I will vote to keep rates unchanged until the end of 2018,” Glapinski told a news conference after the bank kept rates at their record-low.

“I do not speak about 2019 ... because it is too distant,” he said.

Glapinski also said that there were no major imbalances in the Polish economy, adding he was not concerned by current wage growth of about 5 percent per year. (Reporting by Bartosz Chmielewski; Writing by Marcin Goettig)
