South Africa's retail sales up 1.3 percent year/year in July

JOHANNESBURG, Sept 12 (Reuters) - South African retail sales rose 1.3 percent year-on-year in July after increasing by a revised 1.8 percent in June, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, sales increased 1.3 percent from a 1.2 percent contraction previously. Sales were up 1.9 percent in the three months to the end of July compared with the same period last year, Statistics South Africa said. (Reporting by Mfuneko Toyana Editing by James Macharia)
