Nordic holding firm Sampo beats Q1 profit forecasts

HELSINKI, May 8 (Reuters) - Sampo beat forecasts with a 7 percent rise in first-quarter pretax profit of 475 million euros ($533 million) led by its insurance business, the Nordic insurer and financial holding company reported on Wednesday.

The result topped analyst expectations in a Reuters poll which ranged from 362 million to 469 million euros.
