SAO PAULO (Reuters) - A dominant Palmeiras beat Cruzeiro 3-1 at home on Sunday to return to the top of Brazil’s Serie A table.
Lucas Lima’s deflected shot from outside the box put the home side 1-0 up midway through the first half but Mancuello levelled the scores with a penalty kick after half an hour.
Hyoran gave Palmeiras the lead again four minutes before the break and Gustavo Gomez added a third from the penalty spot 20 minutes into the second half.
The result puts Palmeiras two points ahead of Sao Paulo, who play Botafogo later on Sunday.
