FACTBOX-Soccer-Leicester's record-breaking 9-0 win over Southampton

Oct 25 (Reuters) - Factbox following Leicester City’s record-breaking 9-0 Premier League victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday.

*Leicester now hold the record for the biggest away win in English top-flight history. The previous highest winning margin was eight goals set by West Bromwich Albion at Wolverhampton Wanderers (0-8 in 1893), Sunderland at Newcastle United (1-9 in 1908) and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Cardiff City (1-9 in 1955).

*Leicester equalled the biggest Premier League victory — Manchester United’s 9-0 home success over Ipswich Town in March 1995.

*It was Southampton’s heaviest loss home or away in the club’s 133-year history. Their previous biggest defeat in the Premier League was a 7-1 reverse at Liverpool in 1999.

*It was only the second time in Premier League history that two players had scored a hat-trick for one team in a game after Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy grabbed trebles for Leicester to match the feat of Jermaine Pennant and Robert Pires for Arsenal against Southampton in 2003.

*Leicester were the second team in Premier League history to lead 5-0 at halftime after Manchester City did likewise against Burnley in 2010. That game finished 6-1.

*Perez scored his first goals for Leicester since his 37.3-million euro ($41.32 million) move from Newcastle United in the close season. He made 10 previous appearances without scoring.

*Vardy has now scored 19 goals in his last 21 appearances for Leicester.

*Leicester fullback Ben Chilwell netted his second goal in 106 career appearances, with his only other strike coming against Tottenham Hotspur in a 6-1 loss in 2017.
