Soccer: Britton urges Swansea to improve home form

(Reuters) - Swansea City need to start winning their home games if they are to turn around their poor start to the season and start climbing the table, captain Leon Britton has said.

Swansea’s home form under manager Paul Clement was crucial to their survival last season, but the Welsh side have lost all three of their home Premier League games this campaign and are currently 18th in the table.

Britton believes that Swansea must win either of their upcoming home games against Huddersfield Town on Saturday or Leicester City the following week to regain momentum.

“We have Huddersfield and Leicester coming up next and they are huge games for us,” Leon told the club’s website. (www.swanseacity.com)

“We haven’t won at home yet this season, whereas last year our home form after the manager arrived in January was very good.

“We need at least one win from these two games – probably four points at least. We don’t want the table looking bad so we need to make these home games count.”

Swansea host newly-promoted Huddersfield on Saturday, who have lost just two of their opening seven league fixtures.

“They have shown already that they can compete at this level,” Leon said. “We have to focus on producing a performance this weekend that will give us a chance of getting a result, then we can think about Leicester next week.

“We know we have to be better at home, and it’s down to us players to make that happen.”
